1. Day Departure to Turkey
2. Day Arrive in Antalya
Upon your Arrive in the Mediterranean
resort town of Antalya, you are Meet with a
friendly 'merhaba' (hello) and escorted to
your hotel. You have the day free to begin
exploring Antalya or to relax at your
leisure. Learn more about the cultural
adventure ahead of you at an orientation
meeting at 7pm. During dinner get acquainted
with the other members of your group.
3. Day Termessos / Antalya
Alexander the Great may have been
daunted by its natural fortifications, but
you won't bypass the chance to explore
Termessos's agora, gymnasium and theater.
The refreshing coolness of the site of
Termessos makes a delightful change after
the heat of the coastal plain. Return to
Antalya and enjoy the old harbor and the
Kaleici Museum.
4. Day Antalya / Phaselis / Kalkan
En route to Kalkan visit the cities of
Phaselis and Demre (Myra). During the 4th
century A. D. , St Nicholas of Patara, later
to be known as Santa Claus, was bishop of
Myra. His tomb and a church dedicated to him
are to be found here. If weather permits you
may have a chance to visit the sunken city
of Kekova. Kekova is an island an hour from
Dalyanagzi by sea as well as the name of a
whole ensemble of picturesque islands,
numerous bays and ancient cities. These bays
provide natural harbors in all seasons, and
yachtsmen particularly enjoy exploring the
unspoiled landscape. Kalekoy Castle offers a
bird's-eye view of the bays, inlets, islands
and colorful yachts sailing peacefully on
the glassy water
5. Day Kalkan / Fethiye
Your morning is at leisure to enjoy the
charming town of Kalkan as you please.
Continue along the Mediterranean coastline
to Xanthos where you can climb the steps of
the theater with the wind and the goats as
your only audience. Then lounge on one of
Turkey's longest and widest beaches in
Patara, the birthplace of St. Nicholas.
Enjoy wandering through Fethiye with its
Lycian sarcophagi in the middle of the town.
You will stay overnight in Fethiye.
6. Day Fethiye / Bodrum
Boat trip to Dalyan with its Carian rock
tombs. In the afternoon continue to Bodrum
and indulge in a more international,
bohemian experience enjoying the art, music
and lively atmosphere. Here the sun sparkles
off the white washed buildings, and a
profusion of flowers are often in bloom. You
will have two free days in Bodrum so make
the most of this exhilarating city.
7. Day Bodrum
The day is free to enjoy as you choose.
If exploration is what you desire this is
your chance to see the retrieved sunken
remains in the Museum of Underwater
Archeology or the Castle of St. Peter built
in 1402 with stones from the tomb of King
Mausolos. If you see relaxation in your
future make the most of this beautiful
holiday resort by doing the least amount of
anything on these days – lounging on the
beach, swimming in the Turquoise waters and
maybe, for the more adventurous, a little
scuba diving. Whatever your activities make
sure to conserve some of your energy for the
evening festivities. Stroll the beautiful
streets to shop at the boutiques or for
paintings on street corners. Outdoor coffee
houses and seafood restaurants line the
harbor, so you never have to go far in
search of sustenance. Don't hold back on
dessert and why not have your coffee grounds
read to help you decide where to go dancing?
The dancing usually doesn't begin until
midnight, so you have plenty of time to
decide
8. Day Bodrum
Continue your leisure time in Bodrum.
Why not explore the theatre? Situated in the
hillside over looking Bodrum this theatre
whose capacity is around 13. 000 was built
during the Carian reign in the Hellenistic
age (330 - 30 BC). Another witness to the
great past of Bodrum is the Myndos gate,
which located on the west side of Bodrum.
This is one of the two entrances of ancient
Halicarnassus. It was part of the town's
wall. The gate is named after the place
Myndos because it faces the ancient Myndos
place (now Gümüslük).
9. Day Bodrum / Aphrodisias / Pamukkale
Drive to Aphrodisias known for its
sculpture school. Continue to Pamukkale in
the afternoon.
10. Day Pamukkale / Sardis / Izmir
Enjoy the beauty of Pamukkale's immense
tiers of white limestone as they cascade
down a barren hillside. Visit the nearby
Roman theater and necropolis. Continue to
Izmir, where you will explore the remains of
Sardis where King Croesseus of Lydia
resided. Also visit the Temple of Artemis,
gymnasium and the synagogue.
11. Day Ephesus
Today you will discover Ephesus, which
is a highlight of every trip to Turkey. Do
make sure to walk the streets of the most
complete city of antiquity in the world. Sit
in the same theater where Paul preached and
Roman dramas were performed. Every summer,
during the International Izmir Festival, the
theater is alive with the words, music and
drama of contemporary performers in this
ancient setting. Stroll past the Library of
Celsius, the baths and the Temple of
Hadrian. You'll also visit the house where
the Virgin Mary spent her last days and a
photo stop at the Temple of Artemis with the
last remaining column indicating where one
of the Seven Wonders of the World was.
12. Day Pergamum / Troy / Canakkale
Drive along the mythic coastline of the
""wine-dark"" Aegean Sea to ancient Pergamum,
home to the famous physician, Galen. Stroll
through the remains of the Asclepion, one of
the foremost medical centers of ancient
times, the library which once held 240, 000
scrolls, the Acropolis and the Trojaneum.
Next visit the site of one of the most
famous wars of ancient times, the legendary
city of Troy, immortalized in Homer's Iliad
and 'Discovered' in 1871 by Heinrich
Schliemann. Continue on to Canakkale.
13. Day Canakkale / Gallipolis / Istanbul
Ferry across the Dardanelle for a somber
stop at the very real memorial at
Gallipolis, commemorating one of the most
famous battles in modern history. The beauty
of the green hills, sandy beaches and blue
waters provides an honored resting place for
the soldiers who bravely fought and died in
this historic battle. After lunch, you
return to Istanbul, rising from the shores
of the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara.
14. Day Istanbul
Discover the classical highlights of
Istanbul: the Roman Hippodrome, Blue Mosque
famed for its Iznik tiled interior and six
minarets and Mosque of Suliymaniye the
Magnificent. You will also visit the jeweled
interior of the Topkapi Palace, home to the
Spoon maker’s Diamond. In the afternoon, you
are free to explore the labyrinth tunnels of
the Grand Bazaar that houses more than 4,
000 shops. The names recall the days when
each trade had its own quarter: the
goldsmiths' street, the carpet sellers'
street, and the street of the skullcap
makers. Still the commercial center of the
old city, the bazaar is the original
shopping mall with soMeething to suit every
taste and budget.
15. Day Istanbul
In the morning, glide past minarets and
palaces, stone fortresses and wooden Ottoman
mansions during a cruise on the Bosporus. In
the afternoon discover the Saint Sophia and
the church of Saint Savior in Chora
