
This 8-day itinerary is absolutely ideal for travelers who are eager to experience the world’s greatest attractions from the ancient world – from the comfort of a relaxing cruise ship. The histories of Greece and Turkey have been overlapping since the time of Antiquity. Both nations are connected to some of history’s (and mythology’s) best characters and moments. Combine the capital city of Athens with truly fascinating, ancient sightseeing in both Greece & Turkey.
Arrive at any time. Upon your arrival in Athens, you will be met with our company representative in the arrivals area of the airport who will be holding a signboard with your name on it. After meet and greet, you will then be transferred from the airport to your hotel in Athens.
After hotel check-in, the rest of the day is at leisure on your own.
After breakfast, On your morning city tour, you will observe the striking contracts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Highlights include Constitution (Syntagma) Square at the center of the city, House of Parliament, Memorial to the Unknown Soldier, and National Library.
Driving down Herod Atticus Street on the way to the Acropolis, you will see the Evzones in their colorful uniforms, the Presidential Palace, and the Panathenaic Stadium (where the first Olympic Games of the modern era were held in 1896).
Enroute there is also a brief stop at the Temple of the Olympian Zeus and Hadrian’s Arch. At the Acropolis, you’ll visit its Museum and the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: the Propylaea, Temple of Athens Nike, Erechteion, and the monument that symbolizes Greece, the Parthenon.
After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel at 1:30 pm.
Morning transfer from your hotel to the port by our taxi driver to embark on the ferry to Mykonos. On arrival, you have a transfer to your selected hotel for a 2-night stay.
Day free to laze in the sunshine on one of the island's endless sandy beaches or experience the cosmopolitan Mykonian nightlife.
Morning at leisure. Afternoon transfer to the port of Mykonos to embark on your cruise.
Morning arrival at the Turkish port of Kusadasi, with a shore excursion to Ancient Ephesus (KUS-02). Then on to the island of Patmos, famous for its Monastery, the Grotto of St. John, and the Cave of the Apocalypse.
First port of call today will be the island of Crete with a shore excursion to the Minoan Palace of Knossos (HER-02), the oldest European city. Then on to the volcanic island of Santorini, believed to be the lost continent of Atlantis.
On disembarkation after breakfast, you will be met by our assistant and transferred by our minibus or taxi driver to the airport for your return flight home.
