Discover the former Ottoman capital on a full-day Bursa Day Trip from Istanbul, with morning hotel pickup around 8:00 am from city-center European-side hotels and travel by air-conditioned vehicle across the Eskihisar ferry route. In Bursa you’ll visit the Grand Mosque (Ulu Camii), the Green Mosque and Green Mausoleum, and the historic Koza Han silk market inside the Covered Bazaar.
There’s time to see regional products like chestnut, honey, olive oil, and Turkish delight before heading up Uludag Mountain for a barbecue lunch. Weather permitting, ride the cable car, with optional ATV safari or skiing at your own cost, then return to Istanbul in the late evening.
Around 8:00 AM, your guide picks you up from your Istanbul hotel and you'll set off south by air-conditioned van. The route runs through Eskihisar, where you board a ferry across the Gulf of İzmit. The crossing gives you a break from the road and a look at the coastline. From the far side, it's roughly an hour more to Bursa, the first capital of the Ottoman Empire.
Late morning, you'll reach the city and visit the Bursa Grand Mosque (Ulu Camii), finished in 1399 with 20 domes and two minarets. Inside, look for the marble fountain under the central skylight. Nearby you'll see the Green Mosque (Yeşil Camii) and the Green Mausoleum (Yeşil Türbe), both tiled in the blue-green faience Bursa was known for. Wear modest clothing; women should bring a scarf for their heads.
Next, you'll stop at Koza Han, the silk market built in 1491 around a courtyard with a small mosque in the middle. Traders here have sold silk and cocoons for centuries, and you can still buy scarves and Turkish delight. This is also a good spot to see local products like chestnut candy, honey, and olive oil.
After that, you'll head up toward Uludağ Mountain, the ancient Mount Olympos of Mysia. A barbecue lunch is included at a mountain restaurant. When the cable car is running, you can ride it up for the views; in winter, you can arrange skiing (lift, transport, and gear are extra and not included). There's some walking on uneven ground, so comfortable shoes help.
Late afternoon, you'll start the drive back to Istanbul, ferry crossing included, reaching your hotel in the evening. Total time on the road is long, so expect a full day. END OF OUR SERVICE AND TOURS.
