Overview
Cappadocia’s rock formations look different from the ground and from a balloon basket. This two-day group tour from Istanbul gives you both perspectives, with round-trip domestic flights and one night in a cave hotel in Cappadocia. You’ll explore the mushroom-shaped pinnacles of Pasabag Valley (Monks Valley) and the rock-cut churches of Zelve Open Air Museum. Avanos brings pottery traditions into the route, while the area around Uchisar Castle provides a photo stop across the surrounding landscape.
Your included one-hour hot air balloon flight takes you above Cappadocia’s valleys, weather permitting. Back on the ground, the southern route includes a 5 km hike through Rose Valley (Gulludere Vadisi), cave houses in Cavusin Village, and cliffside pigeon houses in Pigeon Valley (Guvercinlik Vadisi). You’ll also explore either Kaymakli Underground City or Ozkonak Underground City. These are two active days with early starts, guided sightseeing, and shopping stops. We include breakfast at your cave hotel, two restaurant lunches, and airport transfers in Cappadocia. The trip finishes with your flight back to Istanbul; onward transportation to your hotel isn’t included.

Itinerary
Day 1Fly from Istanbul to Kayseri or Nevsehir and Explore North Cappadocia
Your day starts early, with pickup from your Istanbul hotel at around 4:00 AM. Pickup covers hotels on Istanbul's European side only. You'll transfer to the airport for your flight to Kayseri or Nevsehir, departing between 6:00 AM and 7:30 AM. On arrival, you'll be greeted and transferred to Cappadocia to begin your guided North Cappadocia tour.
Start at Devrent Valley, where you'll see fairy chimneys and unusual rock formations. Continue to Pasabag Valley (Monks Valley) for its mushroom-shaped pinnacles. Then head to Avanos, a town known for traditional pottery making.
Lunch at a local restaurant is included. Next, explore the rock-cut churches and caves of Zelve Open Air Museum. You'll walk through the former cave settlement, so wear comfortable shoes with good grip and bring sun protection.
Finish with a photo stop around Uchisar Castle. This stop covers the surrounding area, not entry inside the castle. At around 4:00 PM, you'll transfer to your Cappadocia hotel for check-in.
In the evening, you can optionally attend a Turkish Night show with dinner. You'll spend the night in a cave hotel.

Day 2Hot Air Balloon Flight, South Cappadocia Tour and Return Flight to Istanbul
Your day starts early, with pickup from your Cappadocia hotel at around 5:00 AM. You'll take your included one-hour hot air balloon flight over the valleys and rock formations, weather permitting. Bring a layer for the early start. After the flight, you'll be dropped back at your hotel.
After breakfast at the hotel, you'll check out, with hotel pickup at around 9:30 AM for your guided South Cappadocia tour. Begin at Red Valley to explore rock-cut churches. Then hike 5 km through Rose Valley (Gulludere Vadisi), among pink-hued rock formations. Wear walking shoes with good grip and carry water and sun protection.
Continue to Cavusin Village to see its old cave houses and churches. Around noon, stop for your included lunch at a local restaurant. After lunch, visit Pigeon Valley (Guvercinlik Vadisi) to see pigeon houses carved into the cliffs.
In the afternoon, explore either Kaymakli Underground City or Ozkonak Underground City. You'll visit one of these underground settlements, not both.
At around 3:30 PM, you'll transfer to Kayseri or Nevsehir Airport. Your return flight typically departs between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM, subject to availability, and takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Our services end with your return to Istanbul. The transfer from Istanbul Airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) to your Istanbul hotel isn't included.

- The hot air balloon flight depends on suitable weather. If it's canceled because of bad weather, only the balloon component's promotional package price of €360.00 per person will be refunded.
- Istanbul hotel pickup is available on the European side only. No airport-to-hotel transfer is included after your return flight.
- Expect early starts on both days and a 5 km hike through Rose Valley on Day 2. Bring comfortable walking shoes, water, sun protection, and a layer for the balloon morning.
- The order of sightseeing may change, but all described visits will take place. The underground city visit is to either Kaymakli or Ozkonak.
- Uchisar Castle is a photo stop from the surrounding area. Entry inside the castle isn't part of the visit.

What happens if the balloon flight is canceled because of weather?
Only the balloon component's promotional package price of €360.00 per person will be refunded. This isn't a refund of the full tour price.
Which flights are included?
The package includes flights from Istanbul to Kayseri or Nevsehir and back to Istanbul. The outbound flight departs between 6:00 AM and 7:30 AM. The return typically departs between 7:00 PM and 10:00 PM, subject to availability, and lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Does the package include Istanbul hotel transfers in both directions?
No. Day 1 pickup from a hotel on Istanbul's European side and transfer to the airport are included. After your return flight, transportation from IST or SAW to your Istanbul hotel isn't included.
Where will I stay, and which meals are included?
You'll spend one night in standard quality cave accommodation in Cappadocia: Heaven Cave House, Dedeli Konak Cave Hotel, Holiday Cave Hotel, or similar. The package includes lunch on Day 1 and breakfast and lunch on Day 2.
How much walking does the South Cappadocia tour involve?
Day 2 includes a 5 km hike through Rose Valley, along with visits to cave settlements and an underground city. Wear comfortable walking shoes with good grip and bring water and sun protection.
Will I visit both underground cities and enter Uchisar Castle?
You'll visit either Kaymakli Underground City or Ozkonak Underground City, not both. At Uchisar Castle, you'll stop for photos in the surrounding area without entering the castle.
Is this a group tour, and does it include shopping stops?
Yes, this is a regular group tour with shopping stops. A professional licensed English-speaking guide leads the sightseeing tours. A private version can be requested at an additional cost.
How far ahead should I book?

Is the Turkish Night show included?
The Turkish Night show with dinner is an optional evening activity on Day 1, not part of the included tour program.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
If you need to cancel or change your travel dates, you must notify All Istanbul Tours at least 5 days before the tour starts. For a cancellation or date-change request received at least 5 days before the tour starts, the cost of all non-refundable flight and bus tickets will be deducted from the paid balance. For a cancellation or date-change request received less than 5 days before the tour starts, the full amount paid is non-refundable. If a traveler does not appear for the booked service, the reservation is treated as a no-show and the full amount paid is non-refundable.

Worth booking if you don’t want to plan Cappadocia yourself. Our guide Ilhan had the balloon slot and all the pickups sorted, so we just showed up. Dedeli Konak Cave Hotel was clean and the breakfast spread was honestly one of our favorite meals in Turkey. Early start for the balloon, tired but happy after.
