The 4-Day Cappadocia Tour from Istanbul combines domestic flights and expert-guided exploration across the surreal landscapes of Cappadocia. Begin with an early transfer to your flight, then dive into the North Cappadocia tour featuring Devrent Valley, Pasabag, Avanos pottery, and the Zelve Open Air Museum.
Continue through the South tour with Red Valley, Cavusin Village, and the Ozkonak Underground City. The Green tour reveals the deep Derinkuyu Underground City, a scenic hike through Ihlara Valley, and the 13th-century Selime Monastery. Daily lunches and guided sightseeing are included, with optional hot air balloon rides available at extra cost.
Your day starts early, with pickup from your Istanbul hotel at around 4:00 AM. You'll transfer to the airport for your flight to Kayseri or Nevsehir, departing between 6:00 and 7:30 AM. On arrival, we'll greet you and transfer you to Cappadocia, where you'll meet your guide for the North Cappadocia tour.
Start at Devrent Valley, where erosion has shaped the rock into animal-like forms. Continue to Pasabag Valley (Monks Valley) to see mushroom-shaped pinnacles. Then visit Avanos, known for its pottery-making traditions.
Lunch at a local restaurant is included; the menu varies. Explore the rock-cut churches and cave spaces at Zelve Open Air Museum. Finish with photos from the area around Uchisar Castle, without entering the castle.
Expect moderate walking over uneven ground, with steps at the cave sites. Bring comfortable hiking shoes, water, sun protection, and your camera. The tour finishes at around 4:00 PM, followed by your hotel transfer and check-in.
You can book an optional Turkish Night show with live music, folk dancing, and dinner. This evening activity and its dinner cost extra.
After breakfast, you'll meet your guide and fellow travelers at around 9:30 AM before setting out to explore South Cappadocia. Pickup is from your hotel, and your guide will explain the day's route. An optional early-morning hot air balloon ride is available at extra cost, subject to weather; its pickup schedule is separate.
Begin at Red Valley, with its rock-cut churches. Hike approximately 5 km through Rose Valley, then visit Cavusin Village to see old houses and churches. We'll break for your included lunch at around noon; dishes depend on the day's menu.
Continue to Pigeon Valley, named for the dovecotes cut into its cliffs. In the afternoon, explore Ozkonak Underground City, a refuge carved beneath the surface. Expect low passages and steps, plus additional walking beyond the valley hike.
Wear hiking shoes with good grip and bring water, a hat, and sunscreen. Exposed trails can feel hot, while underground rooms are cooler. The tour ends at around 4:00 PM, followed by your transfer back to the hotel.
Your remaining time is free, or you can book an extra-cost activity. Options include a 2-hour ATV tour, a 2-hour horseback ride, or a 1-hour Whirling Dervish show. If you keep the evening free, you can choose a local restaurant for dinner at your own expense.
After breakfast, you'll meet your guide and fellow travelers at around 9:30 AM before setting out to explore Cappadocia on the Green Tour. Pickup is from your hotel. Start at Esentepe for views across Göreme and its surrounding rock formations.
Next, head below ground at Derinkuyu Underground City. Your guide will explain how its rooms, storage areas, and ventilation supported people sheltering here. Its earliest origins remain debated, so a precise founding date isn't certain.
Continue to Ihlara Valley for an approximately 4 km hike beside the stream and rock-cut churches. Your included lunch follows in riverside Belisirma Village, with the menu determined locally. Then explore Selime Monastery, a rock-cut complex with church and living spaces.
Finish at Yaprakhisar for views of the eroded cliffs and cones. Despite a frequently repeated story, this isn't a confirmed Star Wars filming location. You'll return to your hotel at approximately 4:00 PM, with the rest of the day free.
Expect the 4 km hike plus stairs, sloping rock, and confined underground passages. Bring hiking shoes, water, sun protection, and a light layer for the cooler underground visit.
After breakfast, you'll meet your guide and fellow travelers at around 9:30 AM before setting out to explore Cappadocia on the Blue Tour. Pickup is from your hotel. Begin at Kaymakli Underground City, following passages between rooms once used for shelter, storage, and daily life.
Continue to Soganli Valley to see rock-cut churches and surviving frescoes. Lunch is included during today's tour, with the timing and menu arranged locally. Next, visit Şahinefendi (Sobesos), an archaeological site with mosaic floors.
Explore Keslik Monastery near Cemil, where dim interiors make fresco details harder to see. Finish in Mustafapasha (Sinassos), with its surviving Greek houses and carved stone facades. Expect moderate walking, uneven surfaces, steps, and low underground passages; wear sturdy shoes and keep your travel documents handy.
The tour ends at around 3:30 PM, followed by your transfer to Kayseri or Nevsehir airport. Your return flight to Istanbul departs between 7:00 and 10:00 PM and takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Transportation from Istanbul Airport (IST) or Sabiha Gökçen Airport (SAW) to your Istanbul hotel isn't included.
