How many days are enough for visiting Cappadocia

Cappadocia/Kapadokya…the land of whimsical fairy chimneys and peculiar rock formations. Coming to Cappadocia is almost like visiting another planet. The landforms are so unique that it’s hard to believe they really exist until you see them with your own eyes.

If you want to visit a place that is like stepping into another world, then put Cappadocia on your list of places to visit.

2 – 3 days in Cappadocia is the perfect amount of time. Two or Three days allows you to see all of the big sites, do a little hiking, explore some caves, and even go on a hot air balloon ride if your heart desires.

What to do in Cappadocia // A 3 Day Itinerary

Day 1: Flight To Cappadocia, Goreme Open Air Museum & Fairy Chimneys Tour

04:30 You will be picked up from your hotel in Istanbul and transferred to Istanbul airport. *
05:00 Arrival at Istanbul airport for flight from Istanbul to Kayseri or Nevsehir *
07:00 Flight from Istanbul to Kayseri or Nevsehir
07:55 Arrival at Kayseri or Nevsehir airport. Upon arrival at the Kayseri or Nevsehir airport, you will be picked up at the airport and transferred to Cappadocia where you will meet your professional tour guide to begin your tour with a professional guide to begin your full-day tour of Cappadocia.

First you will visit the visit Devrent Valley to see the unique fairy chimneys. Drive to Pasabag (Monk’s Valley) to see the most interesting mushroom-shaped pinnacles. Drive to the city of Avanos. In the afternoon visit another beautiful open air museum at Goreme where the remains of rock-cut churches and Christian settlements date back hundreds of years. Lastly, before returning to your hotel, visit the natural castles at Uchisar. After the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel in Cappadocia for check-in.

Day 2: Rose Valley & Kaymakli Underground City Tour

Depart from your hotel around 9:30 am to visit Red valley, and explore the famous rock-cut churches and hike 5 km through the Güllüdere valley. Then visit Çavuşin village. This village is famous for the houses and churches of the Christian clergymen. After lunch Drive to the pigeon valley. In the afternoon visit Kaymaklı underground city. Where early Christians lived in fear and faith. After the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel at around 4:30 pm.

Day 3: Derinkuyu Underground City & Ihlara Valley Tour, Flight To Istanbul

Depart from your hotel around 9:30 am for Derinkuyu Underground city to visit the huge refugee settlement carved by early Christians, where they could hide from persecutors. From Derinkuyu continue to the beautiful valley of Ihlara, Formerly known as peristerema. Explore the famous rock-cut churches and hike 4 km through the valley. On the way back visit the monasteries in Selime village. At the end of the tour around approximately 4:00 pm, you will be transferred to Kayseri or Nevsehir airport for your late evening return flight around 7:00 – 10:00 pm (1 hour 20 minutes flight duration) to Istanbul. Important notes:

  • Please note that your return flight from Kayseri / Nevsehir to Istanbul will arrive at either the New Airport in Istanbul or at the Sabiha Gökçen Airport depending on the availability of flights on the ticket purchase date.
  • If you have a preference to return to a specific airport in Istanbul i.e. Sabiha Gokcen or Istanbul New Airport, you must request your choice of the airport in Istanbul by email prior to your tour booking. Any changes requested once your booking is confirmed will incur an additional cost.
  • Upon arrival at Istanbul airport, you will have to arrange your own pick-up service from Istanbul airport to your hotel in Istanbul. This transfer is not included as part of your package tour services with us. Our service ends upon your flight arrival at Istanbul Airport.

  • This is a regular group tour, but if requested at cost can be provided as a private tour
  • The regular group tour has shopping stops included in the tour

  • The normal arrival time in Istanbul is between 8:00 – 10:00 pm. If you are planning on reserving your plane back home that same day, we recommend you book a plane ticket from 12:30 am onwards, to avoid missing your flight.

WHEN TO BOOK?

  • Book as soon as possible to guarantee availability, especially during public holidays and festivities.
  • You can book up to 2 days before (Istanbul local time) if there are still places available. If less than 2 days before start of your requested tour date, please contact us by email or phone as it would be a last-minute booking that will need to be checked for availability before your tour reservation is confirmed.
