Occupied since the Bronze Age, it’s surrounded by a 1700m-long wall, which was rebuilt many times during the Bronze and Iron Ages, as well as the Roman, Byzantine and Umayyad periods. There’s plenty to see, but the Citadel’s most striking sights are the Temple of Hercules and the Ummayad Palace. Roman Theater: This magnificently restored theatre is the most obvious and impressive remnant of Roman Philadelphia, and is the highlight of Amman for most foreign visitors. The castle commands views of the Jordan Valley and three wadis leading into it, making it an important strategic link in the defensive chain against the Crusaders and a counterpoint to the rusader Belvoir Fort on the Sea of Galilee in present-day Israel and the Palestinian Territories. Breakfast at the hotel then drive to visit Madaba; The amiable market town of Madaba is best known for a collection of Byzantine-era mosaics. The most famous of these is the map on the floor of St George’s Church, but there are many others in different parts of the town, several of them even more complete and vibrantly colorful. then drive to visit Mount Nebo; where Moses is said to have seen the Promised Land, a land he was himself forbidden to enter. It’s believed that he died aged 120 and was later buried in the area, although the exact location of the burial site is the subject of conjecture. After the tour, you will be transferred to your hotel in Petra for check-in.
Breakfast at the hotel, head to the site to visit Petra: Top choice archaeological site in Petra The spectacular sandstone city of Petra was built in the 3rd century BC by the Nabataeans, who carved palaces, temples, tombs, storerooms and stables from the soft stone cliffs. Today it is a World Heritage Site that needs little introduction; suffice to say, no visit to Jordan is complete without exploring the remarkable Ancient City. The Ancient City is approached through the 1.2km-long, high-walled Siq – a crack in the rock, torn apart by tectonic forces. Just as you start to think there’s no end to the Siq, you catch breathtaking glimpses ahead of the most impressive of Petra’s sights, the Treasury, known locally as Al Khazneh. Carved out of iron-laden sandstone to serve as a tomb, the Treasury gets its name from the misguided local belief that an Egyptian pharaoh hid his treasure in the top urn. The Greek-style pillars, alcoves, and plinths are truly masterpieces of masonry work. After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Petra.
Breakfast at the Hotel then transfer to Wadi Rum which is everything you’d expect of a quintessential dessert: it is extreme in the summer heat and winter cold; it is violent and moody as the sun slices through chiselled siqs (canyons) at dawn or melts the division between rock and sand at dusk; it is exacting on the Bedouin who live in it and vengeful on those who ignore its dangers. For most visitors, on half-or full-day trips from Aqaba or Petra, Wadi Rum offers one of the easiest and safest glimpses of the desert in the region. It is an unforgettable way of stripping the soul back to basics. Head to your camp at Wadi Rum for dinner and overnight.
Breakfast at the hotel, drive to Dead Sea: At 431m below sea level – the lowest point on earth – the Dead Sea is a body of intense blue water, polished smooth like oiled skin on a windless day in winter and ruffled into whitecaps by the summer winds.
After breakfast at the hotel. Free time to enjoy the shores of the Dead Sea and the resort facilities and the variety of Spa treatments available till you are transferred to Queen Alia Airport for departure.
